Fitzroy Readers Information Night with Faye Berryman
The Sun Bookshop
Join us for an information evening about the rich history of the FitzroyReaders and the principles and practice of teaching literacy with phonics.
The readers were developed in the 1970s at Fitzroy Community School and were initially handwritten and photocopied at the corner milk bar on Brunswick Street. The readers are now used in around 4,000 Australian schools as well as being used by families and home-schoolers, and are sold around the world.
Faye Berryman is the principal author of the Fitzroy Readers. She is a former secondary English teacher and Child Social Worker, and became the co-founder and founding principal of Fitzroy Community School. 43 years later Faye is still Head of English at FCS, and still passionate about literature and helping children learn to read.
The night will be perfect for parents, or teachers/librarians who are interested in this well established program.
Refreshments will available on the night.
This event is FREE but please RSVP here.
