Wildlife Postcards Callout

Writers and illustrators wanted for a project all about Victorian wildlife!

We are putting together a series of oversized illustrated postcards, each one centred around a specific animal that can be found in Victoria to be part of a future International initiative  – and we are looking for pitches.

Is there an animal you have an affinity for, or want to shout from the rooftops about? Do you feel people need to know more about the rakali? Want to pen an ode to the Baw Baw frog? Or show people how the regent parrot looks through your eyes? The final pieces of writing will be between 200 and 300 words and can be fiction, nonfiction or poetry and the illustrations can be black and white or colour. Commissioned writers and illustrators will be paid $300.

This is open to Writers and Illustrators resident in Victoria only

What to include in your pitch:

  • What animal you’d like to write about or draw

  • (for writers) 2 or 3 sentences about what angle you would take

  • (for writers) If it would be fiction, nonfiction or poetry

  • (for illustrators) a sample of your work

Please submit your idea here by 5:00pm 27th April, 2020
