In April 2024, the HCV’s Book+Author series returns to the Wheeler Centre. Curated and hosted by Dr Yves Rees, the series showcases new books from some of Australia’s most exciting historians. On Thursday 18 April, please join us for another intimate conversation about researching and telling stories of the past. In the second Book+Author talk for 2024, Yves Rees will be inconversation with Kate Fullagar about Kate's fascinating work Bennelong and Phillip: A History Unravelled. Bennelong and Phillip were leaders of their two sides in the first encounters between Britain and Indigenous Australians, Phillip the colony’s first governor, and Bennelong the Yiyura leader. The pair have come to represent the conflict that flared and has never settled. This in-person talk will take place at the Wheeler Centre, located within the historic State Library of Victoria.
