DESCRIPTION:Western Port Writes (WPW) is a biennial literary festival based in the Western Port region of the Mornington Peninsula\, held in Somers and surrounds. Designed to celebrate creativity and the art of the story\, it showcases established and emerging writers connected to our region and beyond. Our hugely enjoyable and successful inaugural festival was held in 2024. \nWe are delighted to announce that our 2026 Festival Program will be launched on Monday 10 August and tickets will go on sale. The program is chock full of brilliant writers\, commentators and presenters\, with something for readers and writers. \nThe festival begins with a special Opening Night event on Friday 9 October and continues over the weekend of 10-11 October. We’d love to see you there.

DESCRIPTION:The Crowning Event of the Parlour Season \nAfter a winter spent gathering around the Parlour table\, we’re marking the end of our first season by pushing back the chairs and opening the floor. \nFor our Spring Assembly\, we’ll step into the Regency ballroom for an evening of dancing\, parlour amusements\, conversation and good company. \nLed by an experienced dance teacher\, we’ll learn simple Regency progression dances designed for everyone to enjoy. There’ll also be time to play\, gossip\, and enjoy the company around you. \nCome alone\, bring a friend or gather a party. You don’t need to have attended a previous Winter Parlour to join us. \nNo dancing experience required. Just bring your curiosity and a willingness to join in.

DESCRIPTION:Chris Hammer\, one of Australia’s leading Australian crime fiction writers\, is keynote speaker for the opening night of the 2026 Dandenong Ranges Literary Festival from October 9 to 11. \nHammer\, who has sold more than 1.5 million books around the world and won the prestigious UK Crime Writers Association John Creasy Award for best debut crime novel\, will deliver the opening address at Cameo Cinemas in Belgrave on Friday\, October 9. \nHammer’s appearance follows last year’s hugely successful inaugural Dandenong Ranges Literary Festival\, where hundreds flocked to Belgrave to immerse themselves in all things literature\, including two sell-out sessions with award-winning author Hannah Kent. \nHe will also be part of a Crime Fiction panel on Saturday\, October 10\, where he will discuss his latest novel\, Full Circle\, released just weeks earlier.
