Australian Young Adult Fiction: Gender Diversity and Dystopian Futures, with Alison Evans & Marlee Jane Ward
Date: Saturday, 6 April
Time: 2pm - 3pm
Place: Fitzroy Town Hall Council Chambers, 201 Napier Street Fitzroy

Young Adult (YA) fiction is one of our fastest growing literary genres. It is estimated that over half of YA readers are adults who are drawn to complex and sometimes dark themes presented in a compelling and accessible way. For this session we present two younger award-winning Australian authors, Alison Evans and Marlee Jane Ward. Both are winners of the Victorian Premier’s Literary Award and both have released powerful follow-up novels. They talk about their work in relation to their themes, gender diverse YA characters and dystopian futures, with short readings from their books included.
