Welcome to our Classics Book Club, where we eschew the latest bestsellers to celebrate books that have stood the test of time! Join your fellow bibliophiles as we read or reread classic works of literature together and discuss great books from throughout the ages. We will be embracing a broad definition of the term classic, revisiting old favourites as well as discovering overlooked gems, translated masterpieces, mid-century moderns and those canonical texts you didn’t get around to at school. In October we will be reading Virginia Woolf’s stunning modernist masterpiece, To the Lighthouse. A impressionistic meditation on memory, grief, family and time, To the Lighthouse can be counted amongst the greatest novels of the twentieth century. Let’s read it together! WHEN: 3.30pm Saturday 26th October WHERE: Mary Martin Bookshop, Queen Victoria Market REGISTRATION: $5 or FREE with the purchase of a copy of To the Lighthouse HOW TO JOIN: Book a spot in person at any of our stores.
