Join us at 6pm on Wednesday 10 October for evening of conversation with Joel Deane. Joel will be discussing the current state of Australian politics.
Joel Deane is a poet, novelist, journalist and speechwriter. He has published six books, including his non-fiction study of political power, Catch and Kill (2015). Catch and Kill (which focuses on the winning, wielding and losing of power in the Labor Party in the 1990s and 2000s) was a finalist for the Walkley Book Award. It was called "one of the most impressive recent books on the Labor Party" by the Australian and a "fascinating glimpse [of] a world of ruthless deal and bitter counter allegiance" by The Age. Deane's most recent poetry collection, Year of the Wasp (2016), won the Vincent Buckley Poetry Prize and was a finalist for the Prime Minister's Literary Award. His most recent novel is The Norseman's Song (2010).
The Salon Series brings together our community of writers and readers in a program of informal readings and discussions held in the intimate setting of the bookshop.
Join us at 6pm on the second Wednesday of the month.
