Melbourne Rare Book Week
Melbourne Rare Book Week is a celebration of literature and the importance of the printed word in this UNESCO City of Literature. Now in its sixth year, it features over 60 free lectures, library tours and exhibitions presented by major universities, institutional, corporate and civic libraries, historical museums and societies and both the new and antiquarian book trade. Subjects range from silk escape and evasion maps to rare sports books and from illuminated manuscripts to collecting comics. Rare Book Week culminates in the Melbourne Rare Book Fair, which this year includes rare book dealers from Australia, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States of America. Admission to all events is free but some require bookings. Details for each event are on the website.
