The Big Space Adventure: Book Launch
Kids Own Publishing
In partnership with Compass Community Care and Evolve Help Ukraine, Kids' Own Publishing is delighted to launch ‘The Big Space Adventure’ at the Glen Eira Town Hall Auditorium on Sunday 8 September. This special publication is the result of a collaborative workshop program facilitated by children’s author Ailsa Wild and Ukrainian Australian visual artists Victoria Bilogan and Olya Nikitina.
Over the past few months, a group of Ukrainian children have come together to create an imaginative story book, reflecting their experiences of moving across the world and their hopes and dreams for the future. The workshops were designed to be language inclusive, children shared their ideas in Ukrainian, Russian and English. The children created their own glossary at the back of the book, sharing the cultural significance of a kolobok, for example, the rolling biscuit, which the characters use to travel to Mars in the book.
In addition to this, we’re thrilled to share that our sibling organisation Kids' Own Ireland is also working alongside the Ukrainian community to publish a book. The children have exchanged messages of support and encouragement.
