Dialogue Through an Actor’s Lens
Writers Victoria
Using an actor’s lens you will learn how to breathe life into dialogue. You’ll leave the workshop with an extensive toolkit for the creation of dialogue that feels real and helps advance narratives. Dialogue can be a tricky thing to write. Every character, like every human, has their own rhythms. Their own emotional triggers. Their own eyes on the world. Their own delights. Finding their voice means honouring this and the way their individuality might rub up against the rhythm of others. Join acting coach Kate Ellis to find embodied ways into writing character dialogue. Drawing from a variety of acting practices, you’ll use an actor’s lens to breathe life into your characters speech in a way as to find something as unique as the people around you. Be ready to participate in improvisation exercises! Bring a pen and paper or a fully charged screen to join the writing exercises.
