DRAWING FOR STORY with DAVID BLUMENSTEIN
Homecooked Comics Festival
Drawing for Story is a workshop designed for people trying to communicate inside organisations. It introduces you to sketching storyboards as a way of aligning stakeholders and helping them understand the challenges they face. You may be trying to create an elaborate comms plan, video production or slide deck -- but it starts with being able to sketch out your ideas and explain them over a single sheet of paper. Bring along a communication challenge you want to work on, then, on the day, dive right into sketching, emotions, expressions and targeting your audience. Then we let you loose to turn your story into a storyboard.
David Blumenstein is a freelance service designer and visual communicator in Melbourne. He’s a cartoonist/comics journalist for outlets like Daily Review, Junkee, The Nib and SBS Comedy. David co-founded Squishface Studio, Australia’s first open comics studio, which functions as a workplace, retail space and classroom.
