Literature Lessons: Book in for the Year
Writers Victoria
In 2024, Writers Victoria is delighted to introduce Literature Lessons, an evening seminar series that hovers between craft talk, reading group and workshop. Led by experienced writers, focusing on their sources of inspiration, you’ll take craft cues from interesting texts and find new ways to approach your own work. These sessions involve discussion of writing and film and include exercises designed to help you put the lessons into practice. Wednesday 27 March, 6.30pm Featuring Eugen Bacon on Peter Temple, a bold, immersive writer who shows us ways to break norms and climb over the fences of genre. Wednesday 15 May, 6.30pm Featuring Diego Ramirez on Interview with the Vampire, with lessons on moving between book and film alongside examination of postcolonial vampire approaches. Wednesday 24 July, 6.30pm Featuring Tony Birch on Alexis Wright, Country and Literature, examining non-fiction and writing place. Wednesday 18 September, 6.30pm Featuring Maria Tumarkin on Preti Taneja’s Aftermath, a genre-blurring exploration of atrocity and grief.
