Long Course: Podcasts and Audio Storytelling

Writers Victoria

Event Date: 29 October 2023 10:00 AM
Author / Presenters: [email protected]

It’s true that audio recording – and thus podcasting – is more approachable to many than it’s ever been. Yet the craft of making something that sounds good, holds interest and resonates with listeners is a skill like any other. What different approaches to audio storytelling might suit writers? What possible experiences can you offer a listener? And how might you approach various forms of collaboration?

Over three extended workshop sessions, you’ll be guided through your own audio production – from conceiving and shaping your ideas to developing your listening and practical skills. Using tools you have at hand or within reach, you’ll share ideas, cultivate your inner (audio) editor and grow intimately familiar with a uniquely social, open-ended medium.

This course will take place online. Detailed instructions for participation will be provided.

Sunday October 29, 10am-4pm

Sunday November 12, 10am-4pm

Sunday November 26, 10am-4pm

You Will Learn:

  • How to develop, define and reassess an idea for an audio project
How to think like a producer, work ethically and make the best recordings you can
How to edit and share audio
How to manage your workload and approach collaboration
Ways in which you can extend your skills beyond this workshop
