Lunchtime Bite: Fluid Verse: Lessons from Organic Relation
Writers Victoria
In this short session, we’ll consider how thinking ecosystemically can open up new possibilities for our poetry (or other lyric work), while remaining critical about and accountable to our limitations. Through close study of experimental eco-poetry, generative exercises and sharing, we’ll practice intimacy with plants, animal life, constellations and more-than-human kinship as our best teachers.
This seminar will take place online. Detailed instructions for participation will be provided.
You Will Learn:
- How processes of respectful inquiry into the ‘natural’ world can inform our poetics
- How collaboration with plants, animals and ecosystems can enrich the lifeworld of our work
- How attention to organic morphology and patterning lends itself to new possibilities in form
- To think intentionally about density and spacing in our work
- Some accessible and adaptable writing exercises
