Do you feel more comfortable behind the screen than in the spotlight? In this session, you'll explore some of the common barriers introverted writers face when it comes to self-promotion and discover simple ways to step outside your comfort zone. Learning to be comfortable with promoting yourself and your work can help you find your audience, connect with your writing community and be noticed by publishers.
This seminar will take place online. Detailed instructions for participation will be provided.
You Will Learn:
- about the common barriers to self-promotion and how to overcome them
- different ways to promote yourself that feel natural to you/align with your personality
- how to gently push the boundaries of your comfort zone
- the benefits of sharing your work and a bit of yourself with others
- that you are not alone/you are part of a supportive community
About the Tutor:
Jeanie Watson is the Marketing and Communications Manager at Writers Victoria. Jeanie is a freelance copywriter and content writer. She has experience in communications and publishing roles within the arts, not-for-profit, health and government sectors in Australia and New Zealand. She holds a BA in Communications (Professional Writing) and Diploma in Book Editing and Publishing. Her career began as an editor for the National Museum of Australia and National Gallery of Australia before she moved into magazine publishing and strategic communications and marketing roles.
