Online Feedback Clinic: Graphic Narratives

Writers Victoria

Event Date: 20 July 2023 12:00 PM
Author / Presenters: [email protected]

In this course, students will develop a portfolio of short comics or graphic narrative works under the mentorship of comics artist, visual essayist and educator Eloise Grills. Grills will provide carefully crafted workshopping notes and feedback, assisting students to identify strengths and weaknesses in their illustrated narratives. Grills will recommend texts from leading comics practitioners to inspire and educate students on the form. She will also set optional comics exercises for students to engage with independently. This online course actively encourages sharing of your work with your cohort as well as with the tutor.

Pieces of up to 1500 words in written draft form or up to 8 pages of drafted comic pages due 20 July, 24 August, 21 September, 26 October and 23 November.

Our Online Feedback Clinics are asynchronous, with no face-to-face meetings, allowing you to engage with the content at the times of day and week that suit your schedule. They are hosted on our private Wordpress server. There will be an optional Zoom introduction to the clinic website for those less confident with technology, which will be recorded for those who cannot attend live.
