Online Feedback Clinic: Young Adult
Writers Victoria
In this online course, students will develop their work for young adult readers with the guidance of Alison Evans. Students will submit short pieces or excerpts and receive feedback from the tutor, developing their work and identifying opportunities and areas for improvement. This online course actively encourages sharing of your work with your cohort as well as with the tutor.
Pieces of up to 1500 words due 20 July, 24 August, 21 September, 26 October and 23 November.
Our Online Feedback Clinics are asynchronous, with no face-to-face meetings, allowing you to engage with the content at the times of day and week that suit your schedule. They are hosted on our private Wordpress server. There will be an optional Zoom introduction to the clinic website for those less confident with technology, which will be recorded for those who cannot attend live. For more information on our online feedback clinics, please read our FAQs.
You Will Learn:
- To write for a teenage audience, and what makes YA different from other age ranges
- To develop your own unique voice
- To write dialogue that works harder
- To develop your self-editing skills
- Worldbuilding techniques for both realist and speculative works
