In this workshop, you will learn to become your own creative writing tutor through the act of reading critically and closely. This session will explore techniques of close reading with a focus on technical elements of narrative, such as dialogue, character development, pace and tone, with reading and writing exercises allowing you to improve your skills as a writer and to identify and use targeted reading to address your particular weaknesses.

About the Tutor:
Emily Bitto is an award-winning writer of fiction, non-fiction and poetry. Her debut novel, The Strays, won the 2015 Stella Prize. Her second novel, Wild Abandon, was the winner of the 2022 Margaret and Colin Roderick Literary Award. Emily has taught creative writing for over a decade and is currently a course advisor at the Faber Writing Academy.
