Spark: decarbonisation

State Library Victoria

Event Date: 11 May 2022
Author / Presenters: State Library Victoria and Future Crunch

Tackling the hot topic that will keep our future cool.

We’ve partnered with science and technology storytellers Future Crunch on our new interactive lecture series designed to spark conversation.

We are living through the greatest energy transition of all time and the third lecture in our series, ‘decarbonisation,’ explores our race to limit climate change. With the world’s high-carbon economies being replaced by solar and wind, greener construction, electric transportation systems and sustainable agriculture – are we on the verge of a future where our ecosystems will be treasured as the source of all life or rather just providers of economic services?

Hosted by Rwandan-British composer and storyteller Stéphanie Kabanyana Kanyandekwe, Future Crunch will begin the night with a provocative lecture on our efforts to prevent ecological collapse. They will then be joined on stage by Deborah Hart, co-chair at Climarte and Dr Kim Reid, research fellow at Monash's School of Earth, Atmosphere and Environment to discuss and debate the topics raised.

Then it is over to you to continue that conversation at your table as you break down the discussion and examine how decarbonisation will change your life.

Light refreshments will be available to purchase on the night.

COST: $35 per person
