Addressing the climate crisis will require us to change everything – including the stories we tell ourselves about who we are, what we desire and who we are becoming. With a particular focus on narrative non-fiction and memoir, this workshop will explore how writers are engaging with the overwhelming and multi-faceted problem of climate change and where we might go next. Through writing exercises, instruction and discussion, we will look at how personal narratives can provide a lens through which to see the climate crisis differently – from illuminating and challenging prevailing power structures, to revealing humanity's profound interdependence with the more-than-human world, to telling stories of struggle, solidarity and resistance.
