Event Date: 8 October 2023 10:00 AM
Author / Presenters: [email protected]

Novellas are having a resurgence in popularity, but it’s surprisingly difficult to write with the economy required for a short book that leaves an impact – how do you decide what to include and exclude? This workshop will explain and explore the differences between novellas and other forms, assisting as you hone plots, characters and structures that work within the constraints of this form.

This workshop will take place online via the Writers Victoria Zoom room. Detailed instructions for participation will be provided.

You Will Learn:

  • what makes novellas different from both short stories and novels
  • how to use space constraints to your advantage
  • ways in which writers before you have explored the novella form
  • how to structure a plot and develop characters for a novella
  • how to edit your novel, selecting what to include and exclude
