2019 Phillip Island Festival of Stories

PhillipIslandStoryFest

Event Date: 26 July 2019
Author / Presenters: Island Story Gatherers

Battling real life pirates, preventing a nuclear war and the struggle to get children out of detention – these are just some of the stories you’ll hear when the 2019 Phillip Island Festival of Stories (formerly the Phillip Island Literary Festival) opens its doors at the Cowes Cultural and Heritage Centre from 26-28 July 2019.

Returning for its third year, the 2019 Phillip Island Festival of Stories promises to cement its reputation as one of the premier cultural events in Victoria with the cream of local and national storytellers bringing to life the big and the small stories that bind, challenge and intrigue us. The Festival celebrates the art of storytelling in all its forms: published authors, spoken word, film, music, visual arts and movement hence the name change from ‘literary festival’ to ‘festival of stories’.

First speakers to be confirmed include: esteemed local historical writer and Bass Coast Mayor Pamela Rothfield, the first Australian Nobel Peace Prize winner (ICAN), and the Managing Director of Sea Shepherd Australia. As well as Denise Scott, comedian Kevin Kropinyeri, Uncle Jack Charles and Melissa Lucashenko.
