Apollo Bay Word Fest
Apollo Bay Word Fest
Apollo Bay Writers Festival becomes Apollo Bay Word Fest in 2019, a weekend of literary events planned to engage readers, writers and wordsmiths in their passion for language and its uses.
The Apollo Bay Word Fest warms up on Friday 26th July with an evening celebrating the poetic word, lifting poetry off dusty, musty pages and airing it in front of an audience as per its long oral tradition. The Word Fest concludes Sunday 28th July with the 26th annual Warm Winter Words.
In a coup for the small coastal town at the foot of the stunning Otway Ranges, the festival is thrilled that Australia’s favourite logophile David Astle will present the Saturday workshop on Rewording the Brain, as well as chairing the popular Community Debate on Saturday evening.
Director of Writers Victoria, Angela Savage (Behind the Night Bazaar, The Dying Beach, The Half-Child), will present the Sunday workshop, Writing Crime, on the expanding genre of crime fiction. Angela will also host Apollo Bay’s enduring Warm Winter Words on Sunday afternoon. The cosy session will see authors Mark Brandi (Wimmera, The Rip), Anna Snoekstra (Only Daughter, Little Secrets) and Bram Presser (The Book of Dirt) speak about their craft, as Writers Victoria celebrates their 30th anniversary.
The Apollo Bay Word Fest is proudly hosted by Apollo Bay Arts Inc. and supported by Writers Victoria.
