What do our interactions with the law mean and what life pathways do they create? We will discuss the pressing issues for women and nonbinary people of all backgrounds in fair and equal access to legal scaffolds, as well as models of change for justice.

Panellists:
Fernanda Dahlstrom is a writer, editor and lawyer who lives in Brisbane. Fernanda has worked as a solicitor in criminal law, family law, child protection law and domestic violence law in the Northern Territory and Queensland. Her writing has appeared in The Guardian, Overland, Kill Your Darlings and Art Guide.

Sally Goldner’s twenty-year-plus involvement in Victoria’s LGBTIQA+ communities include Transgender Victoria, co-facilitating Trans family, 3CR’s Out of the Pan and Bisexual Alliance Victoria Treasurer. She was the 2015 LGBTI Victorian of the Year, joined the Victorian Women’s Honour Roll in 2016 and received an Order of Australia in 2019.

Monique Hurley is Senior Lawyer at the Human Rights Law Centre, where she works advocating for all people behind bars to be treated with dignity. She is also Deputy Chair of Liberty Victoria’s Rights Advocacy Project and sits on the board of Youthlaw. Monique has previously worked as a lawyer at WEstjustice and the North Australian Aboriginal Justice Agency. She has an Arts/Law degree from Monash University and a Master of Laws degree from Columbia University.
