Society of Women Writers Victoria

Our festival opens on Friday February 21st at 11.00am with the launch the society’s forthcoming book charting the first fifty years of our history. Researched and written by a group of our members and including photographs from our archives, some of the writers will be present to tell us about their chapters with brief readings. The launch takes place in the Jenny Florence Room at Ross House, 247-251 Flinders Lane, Melbourne 3000. Tickets for the launch are $60.00 per person to include a copy of the book and light refreshments. The next two days’ events are all online and include a short story writing workshop from Cate Kennedy, a writing history workshop from Dr Wendy J. Dunn and exploring Ekphrastic poetry with poets Angela Costi and Anne M. Carson. Author talks include Vikki Petraitis, Kylie Orr and Trish Bolton. We also have sessions for writing from prompts and an Open Mic. The full programme may be found on our website. Tickets for this are $70.00 for the whole weekend, allowing purchasers to participate in the events of interest or every single one. The in-person and the online components are ticketed separately.
