Ian Roberts, Brian Nash and Geoff McArthur talk about their fictional, visual and historical explorations of where we live with Rebecca Russell in the chair.
Ian Roberts has worked in the performing arts administration from the 1970s including as the CEO of the Melbourne Festival (now Rising), Geelong Performing Arts Centre and Arts Centre Melbourne The Celestials is Roberts’ first full-length work His short stories have been published by Allen&Unwin and newspapers including Neos Kosmos.
Melbourne-born Brian Nash has been painting professionally since the early 70s, Since settling in Daylesford, he has been determined to paint the area he lives in. 20 years on, his book features the historic townships and beautiful landscapes around the Hepburn Shire. There are around 200 of his paintings included.
A lifelong Ballarat resident, Geoff McArthur has always had a deep fascination for the unique and extraordinary history of the gold rush city. He particularly enjoys uncovering and bringing “back to life” forgotten individuals who walked its streets a century before he did the same.
Rebecca Russell is an inter-disciplinary artist. Her work includes, directing and devising visual theatre, sound work with recorded voice and soundscape, drawing and painting. Rebecca often works with Ken Evans as RUSSELL:EVANS, creating grand scale, site specific, visual theatre in Regional Victoria since 2010.
