Come along to Queenscliff Town Hall on Thurs 16 January for a special QLF summer pop-up event, as one of Australia’s most celebrated writers, Helen Garner, talks to sports broadcaster Francis Leach about her grandson’s under-16s football team. Yes, that’s right: the extraordinary Helen Garner has written a footy book. But, as you can imagine, Garner brings to AFL her sharp eye, generous wit, and warm humour, and extends the subject to masculinity, family, weather, ageing, our bodies, team spirit, and football's power to thrill us all. So, wash off the sand and sunscreen and kick-off your new year with a fabulous conversation about the redemptive powers of our great game: join us from 5.45pm for drinks ahead of a delightful 6.30-7.30pm in-conversation.
