I’ll Let Myself In with Hannah Diviney
Glen Eira Library service
Join Hannah Diviney, writer, actor, disability advocate, and editor-in-chief of Missing Perspectives, in conversation with writer and podcaster, Liel Bridgford, as they discuss I’ll Let Myself In: Breaking Down Doors, Claiming Space and Finding your Wheels. Both deeply personal and yet utterly relatable, I’ll Let Myself In is a young woman’s battle cry over the voices who try to tell her who she can and can’t be, and a reminder not to wait to be invited to the table but to break the door down and demand to be heard. Born with cerebral palsy, Hannah has always known that her experience of the world was fundamentally different from those around her. From challenging Lizzo and Beyonce to remove ableist slurs from their lyrics, to making waves on the big and small screen and campaigning for Disney to create a disabled Disney princess, Hannah is working to shatter misconceptions about disability and fight for the representation she’d always wanted to see. Suitable for ages 13 and up. This event will be Auslan interpreted.
