Material as metaphor
Melbourne Rare Book Week
A conversation between graphic designers Jenny Grigg and David Lancashire. They will discuss their design practice with particular reference to Lancashire's career-long exploration of the materiality of paper. The session will include a special viewing of the collections of Jenny Grigg and the Archives.
Jenny Grigg is well-known in publishing circles, as a designer of Faber & Faber covers, a long-term collaborator with author Peter Carey, and more recently the art director of literary journal Meanjin. She is also a Ph.D candidate in the School of Architecture and Design, and her topic 'Ideation and graphic design' focuses on the archive of David Lancashire held in the RMIT Design Archives. Lancashire is one of Australia's most awarded designers, a member of Alliance Graphique Internationale, a past board member of Icograda, and a member of agda.
