The Big Anxiety Festival
RMIT Culture2
Welcome to The Big Anxiety – festival of lived experiences, Melbourne Naarm
The Big Anxiety is a cultural platform for direct engagement with mental health. Embracing the diversity of lived experience, it examines what makes us anxious as individuals and social groups – from fears about the future to concerns about ourselves, our safety, other people, and belonging.
The festival responds to the realities of a pandemic world of inequity and trauma, asking how we might use our creative resources to create the conditions we need to support our ongoing mental health.
The arts are the best means we have for sharing complex experiences. They show us what we don’t know about ourselves and others. They shine light on the relationships and social settings that help and hinder mental health, and they are a means to reinvent our lives.
