Letter to my mum: I want to talk about our Aboriginality

Hobsons Bay Libraries

Event Date: 30 May 2018
Author / Presenters: Monique Grbec

Monique Grbec is a child of the stolen generations, searching for her Country. She discovered her Aboriginal bloodline at 21.
She shares her journey to claim the precious identity taken from her, ‘mum didn’t abandon me - she always wanted us to stay together ‘.

Monique is very passionate about the generational effects of institutionalisation, and the White Australia Policy.

‘All the things I will ever own will never be as beautiful as the sunset, the soundtrack of birds and breeze through trees, or weaving a basket while yarning with family and friends.’
