Gardens on the Edge – Christine Reid Illustrated Talk & Book Launch
Open Gardens Victoria
Open Gardens Victoria will present an evening event and illustrated talk by renowned garden writer Christine Reid on Thursday 1st November to celebrate the release of her new book ‘Gardens on the Edge’. The talk will be held at the Royal Botanic Gardens’ Mueller Hall.
‘Gardens on the Edge’ is a collaboration between Christine Reid and award-winning photographer Simon Griffiths. In breathtaking images and insightful essays, the book explores 18 Australian gardens that are defined by extraordinary horizons. Each of the featured landscapes – from every state and territory, from outback to city – is situated on the edge of a natural frontier: rainforest, desert, bushland, river, mountain range, volcanic crater, lake, coast, harbour and saltbush plain.
At the launch event Christine will share some of the stories and beautiful imagery from these gardens and talk about the imagination and resilience of those who have met the challenges of creating, reconstructing or restoring gardens in Australia’s often unforgiving environment.
Signed copies of Christine’s book will be available to purchase on the night.
