Australian Poetry Slam 2021: Workshop with Andi Stewart

Frankston City Libraries

Event Date: 28 August 2021
Author / Presenters: Andi Stewart

Write a revolution. Write to speak. Write to be heard in Australia’s largest performance poetry competition!

Hone your storytelling craft with Andi Stewart in this exciting wordshop! The workshop is free but places are limited.

From June to October, APS heats and workshops connect storytellers across the nation, leading to eight State Finals and the National Final as part of Story Week 2021.

Are you the next Australian Poetry Slam Champion?

Andi Stewart is a queer galaxy in the shape of a poem. His poetry hits the sweet spot between radical honesty and just-uncomfortable-enough to warrant second place.

His words explore queer identity and trans masculinity, privilege and oppression, and the kind of love that can only be expressed through copious amounts of metaphors.

Andi represented Tasmania at the Australian Poetry Slam National Final in 2017, 2019 and 2019. He is the current Australian Poetry Slam National 2nd-Place Champion. To Andi, poetry has become a lifesaver and a platform for social change.

Word Travels and the Australian Poetry Slam acknowledge that we work, live and tell stories on unceded Indigenous land. We pay respect to their elders past, present and emerging. Always was First Nations land. Always will be.
