Author Talk: Faraday – A Community Rediscovered
Hume Libraries
Faraday, such a beautiful part of the world. A small hamlet in rural Victoria, nestled under the serene gaze of Mount Alexander. Once, families of many generations proudly farmed their land, knew and helped their neighbours, and, in the 19th century this community built a beautiful granite school building that would be known as the Faraday State School 797. However, in 1972 this little town was thrust into the spotlight, when two masked men burst into a classroom and kidnapped a teacher and six students. After 52 years, survivor Robyn Howarth shares her story. Join us as she recounts her life on the farm, the heinous event, and its aftermath.
