Authors Sallie Muirden (‘Wedding Puzzle’) and Mira Robertson (‘The Unexpected Education of Emily Dean’) discuss their most recent novels on the theme of female coming of age and rites of passage, with acclaimed film and television writer-director, Ana Kokkinos.
Sallie Muirden has published four novels and one collection of poetry. Her first three novels, ‘Revelations of a Spanish Infanta’, ‘We Too Shall Be Mothers’, and ‘A Woman of Seville’, are historical and set in Europe in times past. Her latest novel, ‘Wedding Puzzle’ (2019) is set on the Mornington Peninsula in the 1970s and 1980s. It has been described as a funny/sad romantic comedy about times past.
Mira Robertson is an award-winning screenwriter, short story writer and a novelist. Her feature film credits include ‘Only the Brave’ and ‘Head On’, both co-written with director, Ana Kokkinos. She currently teaches in the University of Melbourne’s Master of Arts and Cultural Management. ‘The Unexpected Education of Emily Dean’ (Black Inc, 2018) is her first novel.
Acclaimed film and television writer-director, Ana Kokkinos’s films include 'Head On' and 'Blessed'. Her recent TV credits include 'The Hunting' for SBS and the award-winning 'Seven Types of Ambiguity' for the ABC.
