Finding a Way: Graeme Innes in conversation with Joel Deane

Hobsons Bay Libraries

Event Date: 2 August 2016
Author / Presenters: Graeme Innes in conversation with Joel Deane

Finding a Way is an enthralling and uplifting book about the legacy and life of an extraordinary man and his tireless fight for equality for all Australians.

Hobsons Bay Libraries together with Book and Paper present Graeme Innes in conversation with Joel Deane, discussing Graeme’s new book: Finding a Way.
The book is Graeme’s unique story of a life lived to the fullest. With evocative prose, Graeme captures a wonderful alternative history of growing up in Sydney. Riding bikes, cranking up the engine of his father’s A-model Ford, huddling around the fire listening to the Argonauts on the radio, and writing to the crashing soundtrack of an old Perkins Braille machine at the North Rocks School for Blind Children. This enriching true story continues into adulthood where Graeme tours overseas in Australia’s first blind cricket team, discovers his passion for sailing, meets the love of his life and becomes a father.
