New York based writer Nadja Spiegelman and local writer and critic Stephanie Van Schilt will discuss matriarchies, gender and cultural identities in contemporary female writing. Nadja will also read from her acclaimed memoir I am supposed to protect you from all this, a personal story of her transnational matriarchy and the complexities of individual and familial identities.
The event is held in conjunction with The Counihan Gallery In Brunswick’s June exhibitions Towla and Identity Intersections, two exhibitions that explore multicultural female identities and intersectional feminism. The exhibitions will be formally opened following this event at 6 pm.
