Whitehorse Manningham Libraries
Melanie Cheng won the 2018 Victorian Premier’s Literary Award for Fiction for her short story collection Australia Day. Her debut novel “Room for a Stranger” explores everyday experiences of loneliness and compassion. Melanie is a writer and general practitioner. She was born in Adelaide, grew up in Hong Kong and now lives in Melbourne. Join us as Melanie talks about “Room for a Stranger” and we explore the “extraordinary in the ordinary”; the importance of quiet stories about ordinary lives and the need for diversity in literature.
