Jo Yang will take you under their wing. Write a revolution! Then, spread your words at the Doncaster Poetry Slam. Jo Yang is the 2022 Australian Poetry Slam Champion and winner of the first Barkly poetry heat in the Northern Territory. Jo is a high school teacher, podcaster, writer, and author of the 2020 Ebook Shock to the System, which critiques our failing school system. Through her poetry, Jo seeks to spread empathy and connection, sharing stories of her proud Chinese identity as well as her role as an educator. With often tough topics to flesh out, she deeply values storytelling through humour. Supported by the Australian Government through Creative Australia, Ubud Writers & Readers Festival, Byron Writers Festival and Singapore Writers Festival.
