It’s been an extraordinary year, and these are extraordinary reads – not only for the Prime Minister, but for all Australians interested in public policy.
Danielle and Geraldine will be introduced by the CEO of State Library Victoria, Kate Torney. Plus, this year’s event will include special guest appearances by some of the selected authors.

Geraldine Doogue is a renowned Australian journalist and broadcaster with experience in print, television, and radio. During her career with both the ABC and commercial media she has won two Penguin Awards for excellence in broadcasting from the Television Society of Australia, and a United Nations Media Peace Prize. In 2000 Geraldine was awarded a Churchill Fellowship for social and cultural reporting. In 2003, she was recognised with an Officer in the Order of Australia for services to the community and media. Geraldine tackles a wide range of subjects with rigour, optimism, humour, and warmth.
Danielle Wood is the CEO of Grattan Institute and the head of our Budget Policy and Institutional Reform programs. Danielle has published extensively on economic reform priorities, budget policy, tax reform, generational inequality, and reforming political institutions. Danielle previously worked at the ACCC, NERA Economic Consulting, and the Productivity Commission. She is the National President of the Economic Society of Australia and co-founder and former Chair of the Women in Economic Network.
