Read to me: comic book stories performed live
State Library Victoria
Experience comic books in all their audio-visual glory – just as the author intended – as local comic book makers perform live readings of their work.
Read to me has been taking comics from the shelf to the stage in Sydney and Yogyakarta, and now it’s come to take Melbourne’s comic book scene by storm. So grab a seat and be drawn in (pun intended) as cartoonists read their work aloud while the images are projected on a giant screen.
The selection of comics will include comic journalism, biography and fiction, sometimes all in the one piece. They’ll be personal and political, thoughtful and outrageous, hilarious and heartbreaking.
This event is introduced by Bernard Caleo and features magnificent visual storytellers from Melbourne and further afield. Readings are followed by an audience Q&A.
