Salon After D’Arc: Changing Your Mind

State Library Victoria

Event Date: 18 June 2025 07:00 PM to 18 June 2025 09:00 PM

“I saw it online, so it must be true.” In an age where information is only ever a click away and anyone can be an armchair expert, how can we tell the good sources from the bad? Our first Salon After D’Arc event of the year, Changing Your Mind, unpacks the anatomy of misinformation – how it’s constructed, disseminated and, ultimately, believed. In a night packed with truth-testing experiments, interactive fact checking kits and powerful conversations, dissect the forces at work in shaping our perceptions of truth. Featuring:

  • Jamila Rizvi, Deputy Managing Director of Future Women, author and broadcaster.
  • Sami Shah, Pakistani-Australian comedian, writer, broadcaster and curator of OzAsia Festival’s Weekend of Words.
  • Sushi Das, Award-winning British-Australian journalist, author and lecturer at RMIT University.
  • Gordon Farrer, journalist and lecturer at RMIT University.
Don’t miss out on a complimentary cocktail on arrival and a special collections viewing from 6.30pm. Arrive curious, leave questioning everything. Book now.   Our Salon After D'Arc series is an opportunity to delve deeper into interesting topics, make connections in the beautiful surrounds of the Library and view rare books acquired through the Women Writers Fund initiative. This event is supported by the Helen Macpherson Smith Trust.
