Barry Jones requires no introduction. He has been well respected as a writer, broadcaster, social activist, academic and as a Victorian and Federal member of parliament. In a long and generously lived life, Barry Jones has been on an endless quest to share the extraordinary and the beautiful, to encourage the pursuit of an abundant life of reading and listening.

Following publication of 'A Thinking Reed' the response to the list of works that had most influenced him led him to expand on those lists, writing 'The Shock of Recognition' to share musical and literary inspirations that shaped his life and thinking.

At this event Barry Jones will share his musical and literary inspirations with the belief that great works need not be considered inaccessible, too long or too complex, the reader only need find the key.
