⛰️ Barry Golding's presentation delves into the question of how to help future generations confront the legacies of events surrounding mountains in our landscape. Focused on the peaks in southern Dja Dja Wurrung Country, his talk explores ideas for reconciling with these mountains and the communities residing on their slopes. This presentation serves as a preview to the upcoming book, "Six Peaks Speak: Unsettling Legacies," co-authored by Barry Golding and Clive Willman, scheduled for release in October 2024. It uncovers the unique stories of each peak, delving into geological origins, Dja Dja Wurrung management, and the exploitation and transformation of these landscapes since unsettlement. Barry Golding acknowledges support for this project as part of a State Library Victoria Creative Fellowship in 2023. Bookings are essential with a gold coin for entry.
