A writing workshop presented by author and psychologist Peter Quarry. Memoir writing appeals to those who want to record their family’s history for future generations. But going a step further and psychologically analysing the story of your life can have surprising benefits, including: Making peace with traumas of the past, Increased self awareness and insight, Learning valuable lessons about life, and Planning for the years ahead. In this 2 hour practical workshop, Peter Quarry will describe the benefits of writing a psychological memoir, and provide hands-on skills and techniques for doing so, based on the contents of his 2022 book, ‘IF I WERE YOU – A psychologist puts himself on the couch’. By the end of this workshop, participants will have the motivation, skills and a plan to tackle their own memoir project. This workshop is presented as part of the Tullamarine Writers Group.
