Kill Your Darlings First Book Club: The Tattooist of Auschwitz

Kill Your Darlings

Event Date: 27 February 2018
Author / Presenters: Heather Morris in conversation with Ellen Cregan

Kill Your Darlings First Book Club is a wonderful opportunity to meet and discuss a debut author’s novel. For its first Book Club of the year KYD has chosen Heather Morris’ The Tattooist of Auschwitz.

Based on the true story and extensive interviews with Auschwitz-Birkenau tattoist Ludwig Sokolov, The Tattoist of Auschwitz tells the story of a young Jewish man placed in a position of privelige within Auchwitz: marking its prisoners for life. When he falls in love with a young woman, fellow prisoner Gita, he resolves to find a way to use his position to lessen the suffering of those around him. This is a confronting tale of the power of love in a time of great injustice.

Join Readings’ own Ellen Cregan as she chats about the impact of The Tattooist of Auschwitz with its author, Heather Morris.
