For close to a decade, Collins Street Baptist Church has hosted the Verandah Cafe, a place of hospitality in the portico of its historic building. As well as serving great coffee, the Verandah is a place of welcome to those who work or study in its vicinity and those who visit the city. It's also provided training to young people from around the world entering the hospitality industry of Melbourne.
The Verandah Cafe is currently open between 10am and 2pm Monday-Friday for coffee, tea and light snacks; or bring-your-own lunch. In warm weather, enjoy the leafy ambience of the garden setting at tree-top height overlooking the 'Paris-end' of Collins Street; in winter find peace and stillness in the quiet sanctuary of the Narthex. You are welcome to stay as long as you wish.
The Verandah Cafe has supported art shows, music concerts, film festivals, seminars, history tours, and book launches. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for information.
