A Voz Limpia

Daniel Sacchero launches his book Distancia Cero, a collection of poems that speak of places visited and traversed, near and far, in constant motion.

Daniel Sacchero was born in the greater Buenos Aires and grew up with his mother, a school teacher, and his brothers in Burzaco, in a house of abundant books and the persistent sounds of pop, tango and Argentinean folklore. He migrated to Australia at age 19, slipping compulsory military service, with Spanish and Latin American poets always at his side. In 1993 he met his soulmate Silvi. Inseparable since first meeting, for them travel is an indispensable aspect of life, a constant source of learning, joy and acceptance.

Since his childhood, Daniel has been a reader of fiction and poetry. In his youth he started writing poetry and making photographs, in black and white of course, turning his home’s laundry into a darkroom. In the last five years, a collection of images and poems begun to show a direction and take the shape of a book. With travel as a central motif, Distancia Cero speaks of places in which Daniel feels part of the landscape, of the continuous passage of time, of places where others walked and of the marks they left behind.

Encouraged by his frequent participation in the readings organised by A Voz Limpia, Daniel assembled this collection of poemas and photographs, into the book that is being released by independent publisher A Voz Limpia.

Starting from his poem Distancia Cero, Daniel’s book speaks to migrants in their duality, as they swing back and forth between their places of birth and these lands. With an honest and direct style, the book provides comfort to those who struggle to retain their mother tongue, their culture and their roots.
