[MSWPF18] Our Lives in Poetry

As part of the Melbourne Spoken Word and Poetry Festival, we are hosting a discussion panel with poets Jeltje Fanoy, Sharifa A Tartoussi, John Ashton, and Benjamin Solah. This is a chance to discuss and ask questions. What makes poets write? Where they write from? And how our lives are shaped by poetry. Moderated by Steve Smart this discussion could shape the way poetry of thought of for some time to come

Presenting a a panel of poets from a range of backgrounds, working in different styles and aesthetics. While no panel of four artists can be expected to represent an entire community, this one is a great starting point for discussion of how poetry integrates into the lives of it's practitioners. Readings and discussion from Jeltje Fanoy and John Ashton, both longtime members of the poetry scene, and Benjamin Solah and Sharifa A Tartoussi part of a newer incredible surge of young voices. Moderator Steve Smart has many questions and the audience will be invited to ask their own.
