Poetry And Prose Reading Fundraiser For Sri Lanka's Public Health Sector

Express Media

Event Date: 24 November 2022
Author / Presenters: Janiru Liyanage, Voiceworks, Express Media

A deeply moving and provocative poetry and prose reading by brilliant Sri Lankan artists to raise vital funds for its humanitarian crisis.

Sri Lanka's humanitarian crisis, the worst since independence, has, among many other issues, had drastic impacts on its public health sector, with severely undersupplied resources and tightening pressure on the sector. These public hospitals serve as the few equitable means of universal access to healthcare, and as such, Voiceworks and Express Media are hosting a fundraiser poetry and prose reading night to help renovate the Physiotherapy Department at Lady Ridgewell Hospital, the primary public hospital in Sri Lanka. The funds raised will go towards purchasing vital equipment including infrared bulbs, Theraband sets, Kinesio tapes and an ultrasound diathermy machine. The night will be a series of readings along with a small Q&A section after each reading. Tickets are a 'Pay What You Can' system.

When: 24th November, 6:00 PM AEST

Where: Streamed to Express Media's Youtube Channel

Featuring: Devana Senanayake, Chrisnaa Senthinathan, Madison Griffiths, Wicky Eldritch and Christine Shamista Ratnasingham
